AI Slop Detector
A heuristic style checker that identifies writing patterns commonly found in AI-generated text. Not an AI detection tool — this analyzes style, not authorship.
⚠️ This is a style analysis tool, not an AI detection tool. It cannot determine whether text was written by a human or AI. Never use it to accuse a student or employee of using AI. The patterns it detects are common in human writing too.
What is “AI Slop”?
“AI slop” is informal slang for writing that feels generic, over-processed, or formulaic — the kind of text that reads as if it came from a language model even when it didn’t. Common markers include heavy em-dash usage, corporate buzzwords like “delve,” “leverage,” and “robust,” tricolon patterns (“not just X but Y”), uniform sentence lengths, and excessive hedging. This tool helps you identify those patterns in your own writing so you can edit toward a more natural, distinctive voice.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can this tool detect AI-written text?
No — and no tool can reliably do that. This is a heuristic style checker that identifies writing patterns commonly found in AI-generated text. It should never be used to accuse a student or employee of using AI. It is a style analysis tool, not a plagiarism detector.
What patterns does it detect?
It checks for: em-dash density, corporate buzzwords (delve, leverage, robust, tapestry, etc.), tricolon patterns (“not just X but Y”), uniform sentence length variance, overuse of transition words, and hedging language. Each pattern gets an individual score and a combined “AI-style density” rating.
