Why this exists

Most coding interview resources fall into one of two traps: they either dump thousands of random problems on you with no structure, or they lock the good content behind a $35/month paywall.

Research is clear — the most effective way to prepare is to learn patterns, not memorize individual problems. Once you recognise that a problem is a sliding window or needs a monotonic stack, the solution almost writes itself.

Coding Prep Guide organises every problem by its underlying pattern, covers every major interview topic (DSA, system design, CS theory, behavioral), and tracks your progress — all for free.

Software Engineer

Software engineer with experience across backend systems, distributed infrastructure, and full-stack web development. I went through multiple rounds of technical interviews at top-tier tech companies, including rounds at ServiceNow, where I currently work as a software engineer on enterprise platform teams.

I built Coding Prep Guide during my own interview preparation — frustrated that every high-quality resource was either paywalled, disorganised, or focused on memorisation over pattern recognition. The platform started as a personal problem tracker and grew into a comprehensive interview prep hub used by thousands of engineers.

Every guide on this site is written from direct interview experience, not theory. The pattern classifications, problem curation, and company-specific breakdowns reflect real interview reports aggregated from personal experience, engineering communities, and publicly available interview data from Glassdoor, Blind, and Reddit.

How this content is created

Problem curation: Problems are selected based on frequency data aggregated from interview reports shared on Glassdoor, Blind, Reddit's r/cscareerquestions and r/leetcode, and engineering blogs from FAANG engineers. Each problem is reviewed for pattern alignment — only problems that clearly exercise the target pattern are included.

Pattern classification: Patterns are classified using a decision framework derived from competitive programming taxonomy and FAANG interview experience. Each pattern has a defined "recognition signal" — the problem characteristics that indicate which pattern to reach for. These are reviewed against real interview reports to validate accuracy.

CS fundamentals content: The OS, DBMS, Computer Networks, and system design content is written to the depth of a university-level course plus the practical angle needed for interviews. Sources include operating systems textbooks (Silberschatz, Tanenbaum), database systems literature (Ramakrishnan, Gray), official documentation, and FAANG engineer blog posts.

Updates: Content is reviewed and updated when new interview patterns emerge, companies change their interview structure, or community feedback identifies gaps. Major updates are dated and visible on each page.
